We love Oklahoma City!
Many people have prayed over the years for this church to get started. A group of 20 of us began meeting in a living room in the summer of 2011. In the fall, we met for monthly worship services at various locations in Oklahoma City.
We held our first worship service on January 15, 2012. Frontline Church graciously allowed us to meet in their downtown building. We met at First Church from August 2012 – March 2014. We purchased our current building November 1, 2013. You can watch our original video tour here where we introduced our congregation to the new space God had provided us.
We held our first service in our current building on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014. God answered so many prayers. More than 530 people attended this service, including many members from the former Pilgrim Congregational Church. It was standing-room only. People sat on the floor in the front. It was — and is — a testimony to God’s goodness.
Our heart is to be a church where we can share our brokenness, clinging to the hope of the Gospel, that Christ saves sinners like us. We want to tap into the historic church practices and yet see those applied to our current city and time. We don’t have it all figured out. We like messiness and conversation. We tell stories of rescue as we see them and experience them. Some of those stories are just beginning, and some of them feel pretty dark and filled with unbelief. Still we love and meet. Still we sing and wonder. Still we hope.
