We long to worship together
City Pres meets on Sundays at 9 and 11 a.m. to worship Jesus together. Come join us at 829 NW 13th Street at the corner of NW 13th and Shartel. Here’s a video for driving directions from NW 13th. Here’s a video for driving directions from 23rd and Classen.
Every worship service in every church has a structure, so of course so does ours. God calls us to worship, and then we respond and move through the different elements of the service. We have both spontaneous, personal prayers as well as ancient, printed prayers. We sing historic hymns remade to new music, but we also love great new hymns and choruses too. We hear from God’s Holy Word. We take the Lord’s Supper every week because we believe this is a sign and seal in which Jesus meets with us spiritually in a way we can experience—we see, taste, smell, and touch the Communion elements, the body and blood of Christ. God sends out on mission with his blessing, called the benediction.
We’re trying to connect with historic practices for a new day in Oklahoma City. You might find many things unfamiliar, but we want you to feel invited into this, so God can speak to you and you can respond to him.
We’re hoping to bring an OKC expression to historic practices. You might be unfamiliar with our style, yet we want to create a hospitable place for you so you can hear from God and draw near to Him. Because Sunday worship is such a vital place for spiritual “re-calibration” through the gospel, we shape a robust service, and we try our best fit it all into 80 minutes or so.
We believe that God is the source of all goodness, beauty, and truth, and so we want to celebrate these wherever they’re found. Therefore, participate in our community’s creativity and encourage artistic expression within the church community.
People wear whatever is comfortable. You may a few jackets and ties, but not many. People wear shorts and hats and sandals and skirts and dresses and just about anything. We’ll be glad you’re there.
In our 9am service, we have a CityKids time during the service for the younger children to get some great Bible teaching on their level. We think children are valuable members of our church community, so they’re invited to stay. You’ll hear squirming and sometimes screaming. We love it, and you’ll get used to it.
If you’d like more information about the songs we sing, about our worship service, or if you’d like to help us lead music or take a prelude or postlude, we’d love to have you join in. We’re also looking for those who could help us with the sound system or even interested in learning how to do it. Please contact Brenden Gateley at email@example.com.
